Open Faculty Position: Now Accepting Applications

We are recruiting an open rank, tenure track/tenured faculty member with expertise in clinical ethics consultation to begin as early as September 2024. This position is within The Department and Institute of Bioethics and Health Humanities (IBHH), housed in the School of Public and Population Health at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston.


Events

In April of 1970, both The University of Texas Graduate School of Biomedical Science at Houston and The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston sponsored the symposium "Humanism in Medicine" that would help shape and give impetus to the new institute that would emerge at UTMB in 1973. This new institute would be dedicated to medicine and the humanities.

Dr. Jones presents at Collapse and Extinction Conference

Dr. Anne Hudson Jones presented “The Arc of Hope in Postapocalyptic American Films: From On the Beach to The Midnight Sky,” in the concluding session titled “Hope,” at a special  conference on Collapse and Extinction: Art, Literature and Discourse, organized and hosted by scholars at Stockholm University, Sweden, and the University of Tartu, Estonia, April 28-29, 2021.  The conference aimed “to question the notion of collapse,” as well as “the kind of literary genres that appear in parallel with a discourse on collapsology,” and the ways “they relate to the factual processes of climate change and sixth mass extinction.”  Selected proceedings with be published in the peer-reviewed international journal Environmental Humanities, published by Duke University Press.
