12:00pm — 1:00pm

Martha Gershun donated a kidney to a stranger.  The evaluation process led her to
question some policies and practices that are common at transplant centers.  She
discussed these with John Lantos, a pediatrician and bioethicist.  Together, they wrote a
book “Kidney to Share” that analyzed some of the quirks in the current system and
suggested some practical changes.  They will discuss these issues and some of the
policy proposals that are currently being considered at the national level.
